Roam the lush green valleys of the Claise, Indre and Indrois rivers on foot, horseback or on a bicycle. Canoe on the River Creuse or soar through the sky in a glider, microlight or hot-air balloon. Children will love both Chemillé-sur-Indrois’ recreation area and Descartes’ leisure park. Adventurous visitors should try the orienteering course within Loches’ National Forest, where they might have the added pleasure of glimpsing herds of deer. Couples can stroll around Lake Pas-aux-Anes, in Sennevières, and learn the Legend of the Lovers. Serious ramblers will attack the national hiking paths of Southern Touraine and the many trails that link villages together. History lovers will trace the Way of Saint Martin -the famous Bishop of Toursfrom magic wells to Romanesque churches, and even up into the stars on the solar system discovery trail. Poets will certainly feel at home in the cave dwelling valley of Coteaux or in the tree-lined alleys of Chanceaux-près-Loches. Bird watchers will hurry to the Lake of Louroux where 150 bird species await them. As for lovers of rural heritage, they will criss-cross the countryside looking for that vineyard “loge” (stone-built shelter) lost in the middle of a field, that deserted low farmhouse or forgotten washhouse ... After all this activity, what could be better than a visit to a spa, complete with body treatments and jet-massage baths!
